Tetra ActiveSubstrate,our listing Will give you more options on amounts neaded as you may not nead big bags and be left with substrate when substrate can be used over and over. As substrate are ment to be used as the bottom layer for the plants roots to find and you would use a top layer sand/gravel that you actually want to use for your scape,unless you like the substrate look which also looks great,but can be expensive.

Dosage
Wash thoroughly before use to remove transport-related abrasion, so that turbidity is avoided. Fill the aquarium with an approximately 1-4 cm high layer Tetra ActiveSubstrate. For an optimal plant growth with no top layer sand/gravel we recommend a 2 - 4 cm high layer of the ground concentrate Tetra CompleteSubstrate.
All new start we would recommend any aquarium root tabs also to give your plants the best start and in the long run your tank/scape will settle itself and grow amazing.
